Both matches were postponed yesterday but there was a quiz night last night. Walter has let us know how it went.

"The quiz night that took place in Gabriel’s function hall on Saturday night was a good laugh and a good night according to the 43 people that attended.

"Not counting myself , Gerry, or Billy, only 13 signed players attended out of 40. This turnout is absolutely terrible. These nights are meant to help club funds, which in turn help the club and all the players connected to the club. Thank you very much to all players who attended and their guests, (most of which are at the club nights out more than some players). The following does not apply to the usual members of the club that do their bit by going to fund raising nights.

"Tannahill AFC does not run on fresh air, the club charges £10 a week for a game on a Saturday and two training sessions. Totes are available so that taking 10 minutes of your time to sell them means you are not out of pocket for your game or training. We are not a charity, so anyone who thinks they can just show up on a Saturday, get a game and not do their bit for the club can forget it. The club has been relying on the generosity of Gerry for far too long. THIS CANNOT GO ON ANY LONGER.

"I understand that some members of the club have responsibilities that restricts them from getting to training and getting to nights out to help the club survive, but every little bit done by each player helps the club as a whole. A lot of work goes into running the club but far too many of you just think it's about showing up on a Saturday and playing football. If this is the case then just leave now and don’t bother coming back.

"The totes are meant to get sold on a weekly basis. Whether the game is on or off they should be handed in on Saturday. It's about time you all start acting like a team. The more money we generate from nights out, the more like a team we will be. All the money goes back into improving the team and how it looks which in turn will attract other players and maybe improve our performance on the pitch.

"All players must start getting to the nights out and help the club generate some funds or there will not be a club for much longer. Again, thank you to all those who do their bit and as for the rest of you, it's about time you all get your act together and do your bit."

Tannahill suffered another crushing defeat today, 9-1 at the hands of Fordbank Star which leaves them rooted to the foot of the league. Tannahill 'A' meanwhile, recorded their second league victory in a row with a 4-1 win over Glasgow Deaf. Scorers were Andy Prow, Kevin Brook and a double from Neil Fraser (left). Another poor result today for Tannahill as they were beaten 5-0 by Paisley Athletic. Tannahill 'A' meanwhile, kicked off their league campaign with a fine 3-1 win over Glasgow Deaf. Kevin Brook, Andy Prow and William Walker were on target for Tans.

The draws have been made for the Scottish and West of Scotland cups. Tannahill will start the Scottish Cup at the second round stage with a trip to Whitefield Rovers from Blantyre on 22 October. The West of Scotland cup will start a week earlier with Tans hosting Drumchapel FP.

New Tannahill boss Billy Adam09 June 2011
The end of a disappointing campaign for both Tannahill teams was pored over at last nights AGM. The new season will start with Billy Adam, ably assisted by Calum Muirhead as the new Tannahill management team. Walter McMenamay will be in charge of Tannahill 'A'. We would like to welcome Billy to the club and wish him well.
